Non-Surgical Gum Therapy | Reversing Gum Disease - Nobleton L0G 1N0

Brushing and flossing are essential to preserve your teeth, and keep them free of cavities. Without regular visits to your dentist, however, it’s still possible to develop gum disease.

Depending on how advanced your gum disease is, the dentist may recommend some form of non-surgical gum therapy. Non surgical gum therapy uses a number of methods including curettage, root-planing and localized medication.

Curettage eliminates the infected tissues around your tooth, while root planing smoothes out the tooth’s roots to allow the infected areas to heal. Local anesthesia may also be given, depending on the patient’s specific needs. Treatments will usually be spread out over time to increase their effectiveness. A periodontist (gum specialist) may also be required, should surgery be necessary.
